Indian farmers in 2026 have access to over 500 central and state government schemes โ€” from income support to subsidised loans and insurance. The hard part isn't the schemes. It's finding the one that actually fits your situation and applying before the deadline.

Here are the ten schemes every farmer should know this year.

1. PM-KISAN

PM-KISAN gives โ‚น6,000 per year as direct income support to all landholding farmer families. The money is paid in three equal instalments of โ‚น2,000 each, directly into your Aadhaar-linked bank account.

Eligibility: All landholding farmer families. How to apply: Visit pmkisan.gov.in or ask KisanMitra for help.

2. Kisan Credit Card (KCC)

Who benefits: Farmers with operational land holdings, share-croppers and oral lessees.

3. PMFME โ€” Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises

PMFME gives a 35% capital subsidy up to โ‚น10 lakh for setting up food processing micro-enterprises. This is one of the most underused yet impactful schemes.

4. NABARD DEDS โ€” Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme

Up to 33.33% back-ended capital subsidy on projects up to โ‚น10 lakh (โ‚น20 lakh for group projects). Ideal for setting up a small dairy of 2-10 cows.

5. PMFBY โ€” Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana

Crop insurance at nominal premium: 2% for kharif, 1.5% for rabi, 5% for commercial/horticultural crops. The rest is paid by the government.

6. PKVY โ€” Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana

Financial assistance of โ‚น50,000 per hectare over 3 years for going organic, plus certification support.

7. Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM)

Up to 50% subsidy on tractors and farm machinery for small and marginal farmers.

8. PM-KUSUM
